Quality born out of passion

Cantina Cooperativa Vignaioli del Morellino di Scansano, founded in 1972, has now 160 members whose vineyards spread on the hills around Scansano, near Grosseto, reaching a total of some 600 hectares.

The wide range of products is mostly focused on the main protagonist of the area, Morellino di Scansano, of which we offer multiple versions, as a proof of the versatility of this wine typical of Tuscan Maremma: from Sicomoro riserva to Roggiano Riserva and Vignabenefizio, just to give a couple examples, though the range is in fact much widerm, and includes wines suitable for every palate and occasion.

Always paying attention to quality, thanks to various certificates, Cantina dei Vignaioli del Morellino di Scansano has always based its work on a direct participation from its members, sharing the commong goal of offering excellent wines to our clients.

Since 1972

In the land of Morellino di Scansano

Our partners are born in the heart of Tuscan Maremma, the land of Morellino di Scansano. According to some, the name Morellino comes from the nickname given to a local clone of Sangiovese that gives very small grapes. Morellino di Scansano Doc was born in 1978 and we were among the promoters of its acknowledgement.
In  2007, Morellino di Scansano became a Docg wine, which stands for Denominazione di Origine Controllata e Garantita.

In fact, viticolture was already popular in ancient times, ever since the Etrusans first started to produce (and export) wine. Over the centuries, wine production continued, so much so that in the 19th century, viticulture expert Vannuccini, during a conference in Paris, praised the wine from Scansano for its quality and said that a cooperative was necessary to show the true potential of these wines.
